Framing Avalon Beach – putting you in Avalon Beach’s picture … past, present and future

Framing Avalon Beach: look, reflect, share, a flagship event for the Avalon Beach Centenary, is due to kick off the week before Easter. This community art exhibition promises to be a great drawcard over the Easter break for locals and holiday makers alike to connect with Avalon’s past, present and future. Given the beautiful autumn weather we often get at that time of year, what better way to spend an couple of hours wondering the streets and alleyways of Avalon Beach to catch a glimpse of Avalon Beach ‘then’ and ‘now’.

Organised by Jayne Denshire, the exhibition comprises sixteen sites that form a trail to follow, taking you back in time while being right in the heart of our special place, and inviting you to look, reflect and share what makes Avalon Beach unique.

Special sites to look out for include where the first general store was in the village and the site for the annual circus visit with its elephants feeding on the sandhills.

The project has attracted lots of support from local suppliers. The generosity of our gold sponsor Woolworths Metro Avalon Beach will enable the exhibition to showcase archival historic photos from Avalon Beach Historical Society’s own collection as well as bespoke shots from private collections. Printer HQ support includes manufacturing and installing all the display stands and Penguin Creative is developing the stand design.

‘Framing Avalon Beach’ is shaping up to be an event to remember for the Avalon Beach community so keep an eye out for the red frames around town from 12 April – they’ll get you up-close and personal with Avalon Beach’s amazing past.
